03.09.10 | Nurburgring Friday Report

After a months summer break away from racing, Britains James Toseland climbed back aboard his Sterilgarda Yamaha today at Nurburgring in Germany to get round 11 of the 2010 World Superbike Championship underway.

Currently lying sixth in the Championship with six races and a potential 150 points available, the double World Champion has the potential to work his way up to finish the season as high as third in the standings.

Having not visited the circuit since his Supersport days 11 years ago, James who is supported by BKS, used his time on track today to reacquaint himself, beginning with the exact same settings as he had used at Silverstone last time out.

After finishing the 1st free practice session in 14th, James worked to reduce his lap time by over eight tenths of a second in the afternoons qualifying session. His ended the day in 18th with a time of 1:57.001, but is confident of moving towards the top of the timesheets tomorrow.

The last time I was at the Nurburgring I was 18 years old, so its been a couple of years! James commented. Since then Ive been to Oschersleben in Germany but not back to the ring so Ive been really looking forward to it.

Unfortunately at the end of the afternoon session we lost valuable time but tomorrow we should be ok and Im looking forward to getting back out there.

Hi JT. What a shame about quali after you performed so well. It's good to see you at the front again where you belong; hoping that's where you'll be again tomorrow. Lovin' the new lid!!

Hello JT, I hope you had a good qualification today. You need to get up higher in the list, because that is were you belong. I will come so see you tomorrow at the Nurnbergring and I will press my thumbs for you (as we say in Holland). Good Luck. Bigh Hugh Evelyn (Netherlands)
