09.04.10 | Strong Spanish start for Toseland
Britains Double World Superbike Champion, James Toseland, made another great race weekend start at Valencia in Spain today for round three of the exciting 2010 series. The Yorkshireman dominated the leaderboard in the early stages of the first practice session and continued to run consistently in the top five for most of the session before ending in third position less than half a second off fastest man Carlos Checa.
Session two ended a little differently with the Sterilgarda Yamaha rider rounding out the timed practice in 12th place, but still less than a second off leader Checa. However, the BKS-supported rider remained upbeat after the session, having used the time to focus on perfecting the bike set-up and getting comfortable for a strong qualifying session tomorrow.
We found good direction this morning and this is the direction we will continue with tomorrow, said Toseland. We are continually developing this fantastic 2010 spec machine and I have every confidence that I have a race-winning package. Im really happy with the way that everything is coming together and the team is an amazing bunch of guys.
Yamaha has responded brilliantly to my feedback and suggestions and I feel like were really not very far away now from where we need to be. I think tomorrow will be a good day and I need that to get things back on track and remind everyone that I am a serious title contender.
